Thalgo Spa in Sainte-Maxime, the marine beauty

André Bouclet, a visionary pharmacist, was always fascinated by the regenerating properties of the ocean. In 1964 he founded Thalgo, the first laboratory specialising in treatments based on seaweed and marine extracts for medicine and thalassotherapy.

In 1966, he also developed an innovative process of micro-bursting algae. Thanks to this technique, the active ingredients in the cells are released while their richness is preserved. That same year, he filed a medical patent for a combination of three micro-burst algae, prescribed for various conditions.

In 1976, the Thalgo laboratory chose to set up on the French Riviera, drawing inspiration from the region's gentle way of life, energising light and colours.

The brand's products are wrapped in hedonistic scents and textures. Their formulations evoke the sensory pleasures of the sea, while the fragrances, created in Grasse, recall the freshness and brightness of sunlit waters. From the very beginning, Thalgo has always combined results with wellbeing.

In 1999, visionary engineer Jean-Claude Sirop acquired Thalgo, giving the family business fresh momentum. Then in 2004, his son, Bernard Sirop, took over as head of the company. Together, they instilled the idea that performance must sit at the heart of the brand's values.

With this vision, Thalgo grew quickly in France and abroad, becoming the world leader in professional marine cosmetics. Today, more than 12,000 professionals in salons, spas and thalassotherapy centres around the world trust Thalgo, including 500 hotel spas and 30 thalassotherapy centres.
